Role
The company is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Buyer who will be responsible for key operational aspects of supply chain procurement. Providing support and working alongside the production, design and assembly teams on new and existing projects. The role is responsible for the sourcing, negotiating and buying of goods, materials and services to meet the Company’s operational requirements, taking into account price, quality and delivery and ensuring continuity of supply. The right candidate needs to be both comfortable workings with the internal team as well as dealing directly with suppliers.
The role is focused on buying the following equipment and component types:
- Pressure bearing components (up to 60,000 psi rated)
- Load bearing components – traceable certification
- High-pressure seal arrangements
- Integration with proprietary components
- Hydraulic actuation
- Electrical Control Panels and Electronic components
- Lifting and Handling points
- Fabrications
- Tooling and Fixtures
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain supplier chain relations
- Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) on to ERP system (EMax)
- Manage the procurement process, from RFQ to PO placement for BOM relating requirements
- Manage project relating quality control and supporting documentation
- Manage supplier non-conformance and relevant associate cost, whilst minimising project downtime and delays
- Working to production schedules and targets, to ensure achievement of project deadlines
- Attend regular production meetings, providing up to date and accurate information
- Produce monthly reports for directors to support monthly management accounts
Good knowledge and understanding of the following
- Able to read and understand engineering drawings, geometric and dimensional tolerancing
- Have a good knowledge of material grades and specifications
- Good understanding of sub-contract machining, painting, plating processes etc.
- Understand and deliver margins – financially astute

Experience & Qualifications
- Experience of working as a buyer within an engineering/manufacturing environment both in national and international markets – minimum 5 years
- Proven experience in procurement
- Proven experience in driving both new and existing accounts, whilst maintaining margins
- Proven track record on reducing costs, lead-times and delivery times
- CIPS qualified level 3 minimum or similar qualification preferred
- Relevant engineering qualifications (desirable)
