
Our experienced KW Pressure Testing engineers have been high pressure, high temperature nitrogen gas testing a series of advanced components for green hydrogen production through water electrolysis.
The specialist components have been designed for operating in complex high pressure and high temperature conditions.
Prior to testing, our engineers designed and manufactured a test fixture to hold and secure the components, along with constantly delivering and monitoring the variable temperatures to the components whilst being subjected to certain test pressures.
The component is pre-tested at ambient temperature at a specific pressure to be able to thoroughly check the assembly before HPHT testing commences.
Fully automated HPHT testing is conducted by carefully controlling and monitoring stepped gas pressures, along with set prolonged dwell periods. Nitrogen gas is pre-heated to a very hot 450°C and is applied to each component for a set duration of time, all defined by customer-specific requirements.
Accurate testing is carried out within our safely enclosed environmental chamber to understand the component’s performance under extreme pressures and temperatures. Our test engineers provide a full documentation pack which includes a test certificate, test engineer’s report and test chart data.
The components are being HPHT tested for a specialist company heavily involved with the renewable energy sector, currently developing a high pressure electrolyser for delivering low-cost pressurised green hydrogen to be able to decarbonise a range of energy end-user sectors.
